Mobile Product Design

door2door is a Berlin startup working on developing a white-label solution that combines on-demand ride-pooling and all other available transportation options into a single smartphone app. My job was the design of the passenger-facing side of the product.

Alternative approach

During my time at door2door, I took the initiative to completely revamp the application as a prototype to address concerns I had about some key features. We tested this new prototype against both the current version and a minimally updated alternative.

During testing, the newly designed prototype showed a significant average performance improvement of approximately 85% compared to its predecessors. This validation not only highlighted the usability issues we identified but also underscored the concrete impact of my redesigned approach.

Consequently, my version of the app was strategically used to demonstrate potential improvements to prospective clients.

Autonomous vehicle integration

I worked on a concept that seamlessly integrated door2door ride-pooling app with Local Motors’ Olli and CFL’s Flux autonomous vehicles, with such features as on-board announcements, live street view, assistance notifications, and safety.

The concept designs were based on the updated app design which I developed and tested before.

Safety features

During my time at door2door, I collaborated with the INDIMO Project to design safety features for our client-facing mobility app. Before initiating the design process, I conducted user testing to gather essential insights and feedback to understand what was needed when it came to ride-pooling safety. This collaborative effort aimed to enhance the overall user experience and prioritize user safety.

Pre-booking, payments, and other features

At door2door, I continuously worked on new features, like pre-planned rides, more payment options, tariffs, discounts, and other app improvements and enhancements.

UI style guide for white-labeling

I worked with developers to simplify and automate the UI style guide for white-labeling.

This effort slashed the white-label production design time from several days to just a few hours, ensuring quick and consistent customization for our partners.
